Arrival & Departure

Staff supervision of students begins at 7:15 a.m. For safety reasons, no students are to arrive at school before7:15 a.m. except for those children who are in our before-school ICES care program.Breakfast is open in the cafeteria at7:15 a.m. and closes at 7:25am so children can get to courtyard instruction to start the day on time.

Student Drop Off

Adults delivering children to school should leave them off via the parking lot. Please do NOT drop them off on Wandermere in the bus stop area or in front of the kindergarten gate, it is a red zone and illegal. This is very dangerous. You may park across the street and use the cross walk to walk them in if you do not want to go into the parking lot. Please be aware that there is NO parking in our parking lot, even before school or for short periods of time. Each spot is assigned to a school employee who often arrive early to school or possibly have left for lunch. The school parking lot is for drop-off and pick-up, only.

Kindergarten: Parents may drop off students at their classrooms. Following drop-off, parents are welcome to stay for our morning courtyard or should leave campus.
Grades 1-5: Studentscan either go directly to the cafeteria area for breakfast or to the field for running club at 7:15am.If students arrive at 7:25am, they are to go to the courtyard for morning announcements. Students are not to go to their classrooms for any reason. Supervision is provided in the cafeteria area, thefield area only for those participating in running club, and in the courtyard.


Please use the crosswalks walking your children to school. Running across Wandermere is dangerous to everyone concerned.


The San Diego Police Department requests that only students in grades 4 and above ride bicycles to school. Although the school has designated an area for students to park bicycles, the San Diego Unified School District is not responsible for theft, damage, or loss of use to any bicycle, equipment or article left in or around this area. All such risk is assumed by the student.

All bicycles should have locks and licenses. Students are urged to secure their bicycles in an appropriate manner by using a quality lock and chain or other devices.

Helmets are required by California law. Students not wearing helmets may lose the privilege of parking a bike on school grounds. As defined in Vehicle Code Section 21212, any person under 18 years of age must wear a properly fitted and fastened helmet when riding a bicycle, scooter, skateboard, or when wearing in-line or roller skates. Helmets must also meet the standards of either the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) or the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).


Students are dismissed promptly at 2:10 p.m. (11:40 a.m. on Wednesdays) and should leave campus immediately upon dismissal. Students who ride the bus to and from school need to go to the busses immediately. All busses leave campus no later than 2:20.

Student Pick UpPlease ensure the safety of all students by not parking or stoppingin the bus loading areaand/or asking your child(ren) to cross the street. The school"s main concern is for the health and safety of your children,. In addtion, it is a red zone and you could be ticketed. Please park off of Bell Glade where we have a pick up zone or other surrounding streets. Wandermere is not an option for stopping or pick-up. We also have valet service in our parking lot off of Bell Glade.

Specific dismissal procedures vary by grade level, as indicated below:

Kindergarten: Students are dismissed from the classroom area by their teacher upon seeing a responsible adult or older sibling. Older siblings must come to is the Kindergartenclass to pick up younger siblings.
Grades 1-3: Please pick up your child either at the classroom or where you and your child have agreed to meet. Please communicate to the teacher how you will be picking up your child.
Grades 4-6: Teachers dismiss students from the classroom and they are to leave campus via the main entrance. If they are responsible for a younger student, they must go to the classroom to pick them up and then promptly head home.
PrimeTime Extended Day Program Students: All PrimeTime and licensed day care program students are dismissed from their classrooms to PrimeTime. Kindergarten students are picked up at their classrooms by a PrimeTime staff member.
Bus Students: All buses park in the loading/unloading zone in front of the school off Wandermere. All bus students need to go to their assigned bus promptly when dismissed.

If you are more than 10 minutes late to pick up a student, please go to the front office. You may be asked to provide identification. Please review the Visitors Policy page for additional information.
