Student Drop Off

The parking lot will be closed in the mornings.  If you are dropping your child off by car please use the drop off zone on Wandermere. You may park across the street and use the cross walk to walk them in to any of the gates. Please be aware that there is NO parking in our parking lot, even before school or for short periods of time. Each spot is assigned to a school employee who often arrive early to school or possibly have left for lunch.

Kindergarten: Parents may drop off students at the kindergarten gate starting at 7:40am.
Grades 1-5: Gates will open at 7:40am and students will wait by the planters or in front of their classroom until the first bell at 7:45.  Teachers will open their doors at 7:45 to let students in, the last bell rings at 7:50 and instruction begins.

Walking

Please use the crosswalks walking your children to school. Running across Wandermere is dangerous to everyone concerned.

Bicycles

The San Diego Police Department requests that only students in grades 4 and above ride bicycles to school. Although the school has designated an area for students to park bicycles, the San Diego Unified School District is not responsible for theft, damage, or loss of use to any bicycle, equipment or article left in or around this area. All such risk is assumed by the student.

All bicycles should have locks and licenses. Students are urged to secure their bicycles in an appropriate manner by using a quality lock and chain or other devices.

Helmets are required by California law. Students not wearing helmets may lose the privilege of parking a bike on school grounds. As defined in Vehicle Code Section 21212, any person under 18 years of age must wear a properly fitted and fastened helmet when riding a bicycle, scooter, skateboard, or when wearing in-line or roller skates. Helmets must also meet the standards of either the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) or the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

Dismissal

Students are dismissed promptly at 2:10 p.m. (12:10 pm on Wednesdays) and should leave campus immediately upon dismissal.

Student Pick Up. Please ensure the safety of all students by not parking or stopping in the bus loading area and/or asking your child(ren) to cross the street. The school"s main concern is for the health and safety of your children.

Specific dismissal procedures vary by grade level, as indicated below:

Kindergarten: Students are dismissed from the kindergarten gate by their teacher upon seeing a responsible adult or older sibling. Older siblings must come to  the Kindergarten class to pick up younger siblings.
Grades 1: Please pick up your child at the gate near the front office on Wandermere Street.  Teachers will dismiss students when they see their responsible adult.  Older siblings can come to the 1st grade gate to meet younger siblings.
Grades 2-5: Teachers dismiss students from the gate by the parking lot off of Bell Glade.  Parents should designate a meeting spot where students can go at dismissal to find you easily.  There is a lot of space on the grass areas adjacent to the parking lot.
PrimeTime Extended Day Program Students: All PrimeTime and licensed day care program students are dismissed from their classrooms to PrimeTime or Klassic Kids. Kindergarten students are picked up at their classrooms by a PrimeTime/Klassic Kids staff member.

If you are more than 10 minutes late to pick up a student, please go to the front office. You may be asked to provide identification. Please review the Visitors Policy page for additional information. For more details concerning these procedures, please see the parent handbook which you were given a copy of your first week of school, and is also on-line.
